Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby is confident Schalke have what it takes to reach the Champions League quarter-finals at the expense of Galatasaray.

The Gelsenkirchen side held the Turkish champions to a 1-1 draw in Istanbul back in February, and Holtby has little doubt his former team have the quality to seal the game at home.

“Schalke have the quality to progress. Things are looking good after the first leg,” Holtby told Goal.com.

“However, the Turks will bring some 10,000 fans with them, who will create a partisan atmosphere. It will be an intense game and I hope Schalke will win 1-0 or 2-0.

“Galatasaray are not unbeatable. I saw the first leg and they are not a super team. Schalke can beat them if they have a good day.

“(Didier) Drogba and (Wesley) Sneijder are not in top form yet. And they cannot do it all by themselves.”

Holtby featured in each of Schalke’s Champions League group games, before leaving the club for Spurs in the January transfer window.
