Kanu hoping to win new Portsmouth deal

Nigerian forward Kanu is hoping to win a new contract at Portsmouth, after scoring the winning goal against Bolton on Saturday.

KanuÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s contract with Pompey is set to expire at the end of the season.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“That was my first league goal this season and although the most important thing is that we won, it is difficult for me when I have not been playing, or coming on with ten minutes to go,Ã¢â‚¬Â said Kanu.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“I scored the winner in the FA Cup final a year ago and also in the semi-final. But this goal could be just as important because I donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t know what my future is.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“I love Portsmouth and I want to play for them. I know how to play football so if I get the opportunities I can still play.

Ã¢â‚¬Å“Maybe this was a little reminder to the manager but we have a good squad here so it is a case of just awaiting my chance to play.Ã¢â‚¬Â
