Real Betis have moved into fourth place on the La Liga table after defeating Getafe 4-2 in an entertaining affair on Monday.
The Seville side went into the game in Getafe knowing a win would see them move into the Champions League places after Malaga’s defeat to Rayo Vallecano earlier on Saturday, and Pepe Mel’s men did just that.
After a dull opening half, Betis striker Jorge Molina sparked the game into life in the 59th minute after finishing a Ruben Castro pass to give the away side the lead.
But Getafe took less than 10 minutes to respond with Diego Castro restoring parity on 68 minutes.
From there the floodgates opened with Betis scoring two goals in two minutes courtesy of Benat and Ruben Castro to put them up 3-1 with 14 minutes remaining.
On-loan Real Madrid winger Pedro Leon set up a nervy finish for Betis after striking in the 90th minute but Salva Sevilla quashed any hopes of a Getafe comeback scoring three minutes later to seal the vital win.
