Celtic manager Neil Lennon hailed his team’s ‘unique’ fans after his side secured a second straight Scottish Premier League title on Sunday.
Lennon’s men needed only a point at home to Inverness CT to secure the title with four games to spare.
After a goalless first half, Celtic eventually ran out comfortable 4-1 winners after Gary Hooper broke the deadlock.
Lennon, who had to celebrate from the stands as he serves a touchline ban, reserved special praise for the fans for their role in inspiring his team.
“The supporters are just unique in world football,” Lennon told reporters.
“They give the players an extra step, they inspire the team. Winning the league is a very special moment, I want the players to enjoy it.
“We were OK in the first half, second half we really came through. It’s a great way to win the championship. While I’m here I want to win things and winning the championship is always very special.
“It’s a privilege to manage this club and to win this championship again, I’m so proud for the players and the fans – they’re the people who make this club what it is.”
Celtic, who have now won the league title 44 times, could still yet gain more silverware this season with the Scottish Cup final to be played against Hibernian on May 26.
