Pacos de Ferreira moved into third in Liga Sagres with an entertaining 3-2 win over Gil Vicente on Friday.

Paulo Fonseca’s men played over an hour against 10 men but were still pushed by relegation-threatened Gil Vicente.

Manuel Jose and Hugo Vieira traded goals before the latter was sent off for Gil Vicente after picking up his second yellow card in the 28th minute.

Vitor and Jose gave the hosts a two-goal advantage at Estadio Capital do Movel and they held on despite Kalidou Yero’s goal eight minutes from time.

The win lifts Pacos de Ferreira above Sporting Braga and into third, while Gil Vicente are just a point clear of 15th-placed Olhanense.

After Jose had put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot on 15 minutes, poor goalkeeping from Cassio allowed Gil Vicente back into the game.

Vieira’s effort from an angle beat the Brazilian shot-stopper at his near post, but Pacos de Ferreira regained the lead through Vitor on 35 minutes.

Jose appeared to have sealed the points in the 56th minute and it proved to be enough despite substitute Yero’s late effort.
