Liverpool to go in for Rabiot

Liverpool have contacted the representatives of Paris Saint-Germain‘s Adrien Rabiot about the possibility of a free transfer next summer, according to ESPN FC and their sources. The report claims Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been watching Rabiot’s development closely and he apparently wanted to sign him for Borussia Dortmund a while back.

With the respective injury records of Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, as well as the fact that vice-captain James Milner is 32 years old, it would make sense as Rabiot would complement the younger generation of Liverpool midfielders nicely  – Fabinho, Naby Keita, as well as those a bit older like Georginio Wijnaldum and captain Jordan Henderson.

The 23-year-old was an object of strong interest from Barcelona this summer, but PSG refused to sell and offered him several chances to sign a new deal which he has so far refused. However, if his future isn’t sorted out by January, Rabiot will be free to talk to other clubs and arrange a free transfer for next summer. He revealed in an interview with French radio station RMC last October that he wished to play in the Premier League one day, and mentioned Liverpool as the club he supported in youth.
