Manchester United youngster Federico Macheda has been called up by Italy Under-21 coach Pierluigi Casiraghi for his temporary squad of 40 players for the Under-21 European Championship in Sweden.
Casiraghi will cut down his squad to 23 players on June 8.
United forward Macheda has impressed for the Premier League side this season, following his debut.
