Manchester United defender Gerard Pique admits hes is confident of sealing a move back to Spanish giants Barcelona in the next few days.
In an interview with Barcelona’s website he stated: “Negotiations with Barca are at a very advanced stage. I like the idea of playing in a Barcelona shirt again.”
Pique is currently in Barcelona to prepare for the upcoming friendly game between Catalunya and Argentina today.
The youngster spoke highly of new manager Pep Guardiola, saying “He was a great player, and he has the character you need to coach a side like Barca. A new project is starting with Guardilola and there is a lot of new hope”
Pique started his footballing career at the prestigious Barcelona academy, before Manchester United swooped to take the Spaniard to England. Much hype surrounded the arrival of the young defender, and he was loaned out to Real Zaragoza in August 2006 where he made 22 appearances for the first team.
However, once back at Old Trafford Pique found his chances limited, and now Guardiola hopes that the star can forge a solid partnership with current captain Carlos Puyol in the centre of Barca’s defence.
