Manchester United to swoop in for Shaqiri

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are ready to enter the race for Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri.

The controversial winger has a relegation release clause in his contract with the Potters, believed to be activated at £12million. So far, he’s mostly been linked with Liverpool as Jürgen Klopp seeks a backup option for his terrific forward line. There have also been viable links with Southampton as the winger would likely be a regular starter for the Saints given the completed departure of Dušan Tadić.

However, it seems Jose Mourinho, faced with a prospect of losing Anthony Martial, might also go in for Shaqiri to boost his squad options and spoil the reported plans of both Liverpool and Southampton.

In his three years at the Bet365 stadium, the Swiss international played 95 games in all competitions and scored 15 goals for Stoke. Switzerland have now been eliminated from the World Cup, and Shaqiri already said he intends to stay in the Premier League, and he promised to reveal his new club soon.
