Despite the matter seemingly settled on Marc Cucurella staying to play for Barcelona B, a rumour appeared on Friday morning he would perhaps be loaned out to Eibar. By the end of the day, it was done and officially confirmed as the two clubs agreed terms on a season-long loan deal.
According to Marca, the player’s wages will be paid by Eibar, who will also have the option of making the signing permanent in a year, should they be satisfied with his performances.
Cucurela, known as ‘Cucu’, was a regular starter for Barcelona B for two seasons, making a total of 54 appearances before the progress of Juan Miranda meant he would have to share his game-time on the left defensive flank with him. Therefore, his decision to go to Eibar for regular football wasn’t difficult to make, once the offer arrived.
The move is set to open up space for Miranda to be the first backup option for Jordi Alba in the first team, as well as to make him a regular started for the B side.
