Roma captain Francesco Totti has revealed that he will continue to lead the line for his side for another ‘two to three years’.

The 36-year-old, who made his Giallorossi debut 20 years ago, has enjoyed an illustrious career that has so far seen him lift the World Cup with Italy in 2006 and clock up the highest number of goals and appearances for the capital club.

And with 227 goals to his name, Totti is determined to break Silvio Piola’s Serie A record of 274 strikes before hanging up his boots a happy man.

“I saw some pictures of Piola, he had to be a great. He beat the defenders in his time more, but now it’s even harder to play. I’ll go ahead and play for another two to three years,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“If I had played as a striker from the beginning, at this point I’d already have passed the 300-goal mark.”

So far this season Totti has found the back of the net 12 times in 30 appearances and set up a further 11 goals for his team-mates.
