Origi: Klopp wanted us to create moment for our grandchildren

Divock Origi revealed that manager Jurgen Klopp urged Liverpool’s players to produce a comeback that they could tell their grandchildren about during the half-time interval against Borussia Dortmund.

Liverpool moved into the Europa League semi-finals with an unbelievable 5-4 aggregate victory in the quarter-final following Thursday’s 4-1 second-leg thriller at Anfield, with three goals in the last 24 minutes turning the tie on its head.

Origi had netted shortly after the break to reduce the aggregate deficit to 3-2, before Marco Reus scored for Dortmund prior to the hosts’ late heroics and the Belgium international divulged Klopp’s words of inspiration after the match.

“It feels very special,” the striker said to BT Sport. “Three-nil down at half-time [sic] and the coach told us ‘create a moment to tell our grandchildren or children and make it a special night for the fans’.

“We believed. When we scored the first goal we all felt it was going to be a special moment. At the end, defenders were scoring, strikers were all fighting for the ball and I think we deserved the win.”
