Euro 2016 champions Portugal continue their preparations for this summer’s World Cup against Holland on Monday night. After a successful qualifying campaign, Fernando Santos’ side are in a tough group containing Spain, Morocco, and Iran. While Portugal have their sites set on this year’s finals, the Dutch will be watching from the second consecutive tournament from their sofas.

For the hosts on Monday night, the Euro 2016 Champions have continued to impress and could be one of this summers World Cup finals surprise packages. Along with lifting the trophy in France two years ago, Fernando Santos’ Portugal side finished third in the Confederations Cup and also qualified for the World Cup at the head of Group B. Winning nine out of their 10 qualifying matchups, Portugal finished with both the best attacking and defensive statistics, their form is epitomized by Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal’s captain scored 15 goals in his 10 qualifying matches. Most recently scoring two late goals to get the victory of Egypt on Friday night, Portugal are now unbeaten in their last eight matches in all competitions.

As for the former European giants Holland, the Oranges are now a side looking to rebuild from the ground up. Turning to former Everton manager and Dutch captain Ronald Koeman to lead the new generation of Dutch talent, Koeman has plenty of time to plan as once again, Hollan failed to make the final of a second consecutive major tournament. After finishing third in Group A, Holland are most recently coming off the back of their 1-0 home defeat to England on Friday night. While Koeman will be desperate for his side to get back to winning ways, Holland boasts an astonishing winless run against their opponent’s Portuguese opponents. Holland have failed to win any of their last 10 outings, a run stemming back to 1992.
