QPR ready for classy City

QPR defender Danny Gabbidon has assured fans his side will not stand in awe of Manchester City at Loftus Road on Saturday.

Rangers were perhaps guilty of showing too much respect to Tottenham last weekend in a 3-1 loss at White Hart Lane, and the Welshman says they will not make the same mistake again.

“We showed (Spurs) a bit too much respect in the first half and we’ll learn from that,” Gabbidon told the club’s official website.

“We can’t be scared of these teams. We need to go out there and believe in ourselves a bit more.”

“I think we showed in the second half what we’re about and we’ve got to approach the City game in a similar fashion.”

“It’s 11 versus 11 at the end of the day and we can’t afford to give them too much respect.”

“We’ll just give it our best shot and see where it takes us on the day.”

After making his first appearance in more than a month against Tottenham, the former Hammer is happy to have come through unscathed and hopes his luck continues.

“There was no reaction with the knee,” he said.

“I was a bit leggy after, but the knee was fine and coming through unscathed was the most important thing.”

“Hopefully I’ll be injury-free for the rest of the season now.”
