Real Madrid keen on Thiago Alcantara

El Mundo Deprotivo understands that Champions League holders Real Madrid are hot on the trail of Bayern Munich playmaker Thiago Alcantara.

Los Blancos chairman Florentino Perez believes that the Spain international would be a great long-term replacement for Luka Modric, who will be 32 in September.

Prizing Thiago away from Allianz Arena will be no easy task given that he has developed into a key member of the squad at Bayern Munich, making former club Barcelona regret for letting him leave.

The Catalans are also considering a move for the 26-year-old footballer, but certain members of the club are against signing players who left Camp Nou in the past.

Thiago has enjoyed a very successful season, having become a key player for both Bayern Munich and Spain.

Real Madrid will get a perfect opportunity to make another check on the midfielder when the two sides meet in the Champions League quarter-finals tonight, where the Bavarians are 7/10 to win the first leg.
