Schalke have completed the signing of Germany Under-21 international Christian Clemens from Cologne.

The 21-year-old forward has signed a four-year deal with the Gelsenkirchen outfit after an undisclosed fee was agreed between the clubs.

“I had 12 great years at Cologne but now I’m delighted to be wearing the royal blue shirt,” he told the club’s official website.

“Schalke are one of the top clubs in Germany and Champions League hopefuls. You don’t get an opportunity like this very often.”

Clemens made 96 appearances for Cologne after graduating from the Bundesliga 2 outfit’s youth academy in 2010.

He formed part of the Germany Under-21 team that saw their European Championships campaign ended at the group stage last week.
