SPL: St. Johnstone 1 Aberdeen 2

Aberdeen claimed an unlikely win on the road on Tuesday, toppling St. Johnstone 2-1 in the Scottish Premier League.

Scott Vernon’s early goal gave Aberdeen inspiration with his 14th minute strike but the match did not look to be settled until Ryan Jack’s second goal for the season with 11 minutes to play.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men, though, as Andrew Considine was given a second yellow card, and the momentum at McDiarmid Park swung the hosts way.

St. Johnstone threw everything at their opponents and finally claimed a goal in the first minute of injury time through Canadian Marcus Haber.

But it was too little to late as Steve Lomas’ side failed to get an equaliser as Aberdeen won their first match in seven.

St. Johnstone had made an impressive start to the season and sit fourth – only behind Old Firm duo Rangers and Celtic, and Motherwell.

But they have now lost two matches on the trot and the fact both were at home will annoy manager Lomas.
