Chelsea have entered into negotiations with Fernando Torres after agreeing a deal with Liverpool, the Anfield club has revealed.
Mounting speculation has linked Chelsea with a 50 million-pound deal for Torres, with Newcastle United frontman Andy Carroll poised to move to Liverpool as the Spain striker’s replacement.
“Liverpool Football Club tonight confirmed they have agreed a fee with Chelsea for the sale of Fernando Torres,” a statement said on the Anfield club’s website on Monday.
“The player has now been given permission to speak to the London club.”
