Wolves sign former Man Utd goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak

Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. have bolstered their squad by completing the signing of Poland international goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak.

Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. have bolstered their squad by completing the signing of Poland international goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak.

Kuszczak, formerly of Manchester United, left Brighton when his deal expired in the summer, but remained unattached until Wolves swooped for him.

Although the 32-year-old shot-stopper has merely been brought in an to play back-up to No. 1 Carl Ikeme, his English Premier League experience could prove vital if  Ikme is sidelined with an injury.

“I’m very pleased, I think it’s a big club. Definitely a club that deserves to be in the Premier League and I want to be a part of this,” he told the club’s official site.

“I tried to find a place for myself in football for the last couple of months. I’ve been training with several clubs and waiting for the right call. Wolves came and decided to sign a contract here and I’m glad about that.

“It was always my dream to be a footballer, football is my world. I am a part of the Wolves family now and I’m going to give everything to help them.

“I work hard, I feel like I have a lot of things that I want to achieve and I want to go forward, I want to be part of a team that’s challenging for something.”

Wolves (7-6-2) are currently in fourth-place in the Sky Bet Championship table with 27 points, and Kuszczak is keen on helping the club secure promotion to England’s top-flight.

Kuszczak added: “I had good seasons with Brighton, we managed to be in the playoffs twice in a row which was a big success for the club.

“I enjoyed my time there, I played almost every game. I didn’t expect a break after leaving but I’m glad now to be here and to be part of the team.

“I’m glad to be involved in football again. From my point of view I’m going to try and help the team, help the players and share my experiences from different teams over the past years.”

Coquelin joins Charlton

In other news, Arsenal have loaned versatile midfielder Francis Coquelin to Charlton Athletic on an initial one-month deal.

Coquelin, who spent last season on loan at Bundesliga side SC Freiburg, has made just one appearance for the Gunners in 2014/15.

Charlton are currently three points adrift of a place in the promotion play-offs, but manager Bob Peeters will be slightly more optimistic about his club’s chances of finishing in the top-six following the arrival of Coquelin.
