1st January: New Year’s Day Football Accumulator – 11/1

Opening up the New Year with what we hope will be a stacked Premier League schedule, Saturday promises some noteworthy meetings from up and down the country. On that note, for those of you looking to stick on a weekend flutter, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Saturday January 1st

BST 15:00 Watford vs Tottenham

Starting with Saturday’s guests, while Tottenham might have been left hugely frustrated to have only played out a 1-1 draw against Southampton earlier in the week, Spurs appear to be really enjoying life under Antonio Conte. Knowing that they deserved to have left St. Mary’s with maximum points, the Lilywhites are yet to taste a single domestic defeat since the one-time Chelsea boss took charge. With their sights firmly set on securing a Champions League return this season, the north London outfit will also be boosted by Harry Kane’s welcomed return to goalscoring form. Converting from the spot away at Southampton on Tuesday afternoon, the England skipper has found the net in his last three Premier League matchups on the spin. Holding several games in hand over the teams battling it out above them, there is no doubt that Tottenham should be smelling a golden chance on New Year’s Day. Throwing away the lead and eventually getting hit with a 4-1 drumming against West Ham earlier in the week, Watford find themselves in the midst of another nightmare run of form. Knowing that they’re firmly at the heart of another relegation scrap, the Hornets have lost each of their last five Premier League contests. Gaining a reputation for their issues at the back, it’s hard to see anything other than an away victory here.

Tip: Tottenham win & Harry Kane to score anytime @ 5/4

15:00 Leicester City vs Norwich City

While Leicester might have eventually fallen to that stunning 6-3 loss against Manchester City on Boxing Day, the Foxes certainly came roaring back earlier in the week. Despite welcoming Liverpool to the King Power just 48 hours after their trip to the defending champions, Brendan Rodgers’ side landed a stunning 1-0 win on home soil. Showing plenty of resolve over the past week and receiving plenty of plaudits from the one-time boss at Anfield, Saturday’s hosts will now be seeking some much-needed stability. Crashing out of the Europa League and knowing that they’re likely in a real uphill battle to clinch another European finish this season, Leicester will at least be boosted by their recent success on home soil. With former Norwich starlet James Maddison enjoying a real purple patch, it should be noted that the Foxes have won each of their last four matchups at the King Power across all formats. Breezing past Newcastle with a 4-0 romp on that run, Dean Smith’s relegation scrappers should be bracing themselves for another overwhelming task. Putting in a nightmare display earlier in the week as they were hit with a 3-0 drumming away at Crystal Palace, Norwich have lost each of their last five Premier League matchups. Likewise, it should also be noted that Saturday’s guests have drawn a blank in each of those five straight defeats.

Tip: Leicester City win to nil @ 6/4

17:30  Crystal Palace vs West Ham

Starting with Saturday’s guests, while West Ham might have found themselves in the midst of a real December struggle, the Hammers really came roaring back earlier in the week. Coming from behind and landing a turnaround 4-1 romp away at relegation scrappers Watford, there is no doubt that David Moyes’ men will be desperate to build off of that result. Looking to make up some ground in the top-four chase as they open 2022 this weekend, the one-time Manchester United boss has seen his side gain a string of plaudits so far this season. However, although West Ham might have beaten the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham this season, fans around east London will have a headache over their side’s extended problems at the back. It should be noted that Moyes’ side have recorded just a single top-flight clean sheet since the end of October. On the flip side, also making their own thumping return to winning ways at home against Norwich earlier in the week, the Eagles find themselves in a similar position to Saturday’s guests. Recording just their second Premier League win from their previous eight attempts, Patrick Vieira’s men have gained a reputation for their recent lively outcomes. Playing out a 2-2 draw when the two sides faced off back in August, we’re backing a similar outcome here.

Tip: Both teams to score & over 2.5 goals @ 13/10
