20th March: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 7/1

With the FA Cup making its return this weekend, we have a stacked Saturday afternoon from up and down the country. So, for those of you looking to stick on an acca this weekend, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Saturday 20th March

BST 15:00 Gillingham vs Doncaster Rovers

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, putting in what was arguably a season-best display on their travels in midweek, the mood in Gillingham’s camp should be at a real high. Eventually romping their way to an eye-catching 3-0 victory away at automatic promotion contenders Lincoln on Tuesday night, The Gills have their own play-off charge on the cards. Now sat just a single points adrift of finding a route into the top-seven, Steve Evans’ men should be smelling a real chance this weekend. Claiming back-to-back League One wins, including a 3-1 romp against Swindon last weekend, Gillingham have also collected 12 points from their last five third-tier contests. Enjoying what has been by far their brightest run of the season, The Gills have also gained a reputation for their recent purple patch in the final third. With leading marksman Vadaine Oliver bagging 14 goals during the 2020/21 campaign, it should also be noted that Saturday’s hosts have bagged over 2.5 goals in each of their last four League One matchups. On the flip side, while Doncaster might still be hanging onto their spot in the play-off positions, they are enduring a recent blip. Hit with a 3-0 drumming at the hands of Oxford in midweek, The Rovers have collected just a single point from their last three third-tier fixtures. Also on a woeful run that has seen them lose each of their last five straight away contests, we’re backing a home victory for the League One high-flyers on Saturday.

Tip: Gillingham win @ 5/4

15:00 Fleetwood Town vs Swindon Town

While Gillingham might be enjoying their own stellar run of form, they are not the only League One high-flyer out there. Despite publically partying ways with former boss Joey Barton last month, Fleetwood have really managed to find their feet under veteran coach Simon Grayson. With some in their camp even dreaming of mounting their own late play-off charge this year, Saturday’s hosts were last seen in midweek picking up what could be a crucial victory. Landing a deserved 2-0 win against Ipswich on home soil, Fleetwood have really started skyrocketing their way up the table. Unbeaten in England’s third-tier since February 23rd, the former Preston boss has seen his side collect 13 points from just their last five League One matchups. More impressive, it should be highlighted that The Cod Army have collected wins against the likes of Lincoln and Gillingham on their recent purple patch. With the chance to potentially move within striking distance of the play-off spots, Fleetwood have also continued to impress with their displays on home soil. Including back-to-back wins, Grayson’s side are unbeaten at Highbury since the middle of January. On the flip side, last seen getting hit with a 3-1 defeat against The Gills, Swindon are in the midst of a real crisis. Still sat rock-bottom of the table and with the clock ticking away, Saturday’s guests have lost each of their last four contests on the spin. Collecting just a pair of points from their last six matchups on the road, we’re backing another tough test for the relegation scrappers.

Tip: Fleetwood Town win @ 7/10

15:00 Bolton Wanderers vs Walsall

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, last seen picking up a 1-0 win away at Port Vale, Bolton certainly find themselves enjoying what has been a real purple patch. While The Whites might have lost their League One status last season, Ian Evatt’s men are now tipped as a clear favourite to make an immediate third-tier return. Despite opening up the 2020/21 campaign with a worrying run of form, the one-time Barrow boss has seen his squad skyrocket their way into the play-off spots. Knowing that victory on Saturday could move them within striking distance of the automatic positions, Bolton are currently enjoying an eye-catching 11-match unbeaten run that stems all the way back to January 23rd. Along with claiming victory away at Port Vale last time out, it should be highlighted that The Trotters have also mustered 25 points from just their last nine League Two fixtures. Storming their way up the table and showing no signs of slowing down, Evatt’s side have also continued to impress with their performances on home soil. Including a 2-1 victory against second-place Cambridge earlier in the month, Bolton have won each of their last four home fixtures on the bounce. On the flip side, while Saturday’s hosts might be battling it out in the automatic chase, Walsall have continued on an extended blip. Without a win in their last nine straight appearances, a run that stems back to January 23rd, The Reds have also managed to win just one of their 15 contests since opening 2021.
