21st April: Wednesday’s European Accumulator – 8/1

With a stacked midweek schedule from across Europe on our hands throughout Wednesday, we have a string of eye-catching meetings on the cards. So, for those of you looking to stick on a midweek acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Wednesday 21st April

BST 18:00 Levante vs Sevilla

Starting with Wednesday’s guests, coming from behind away at newly-crowned Copa del Rey champions Real Sociedad over the weekend, Sevilla have found themselves enjoying a stellar purple patch on either side of the international break. Eventually leaving with a 2-1 victory, Los Palanganas have really managed to build off of that 1-0 win against title outsiders Atletico Madrid when opening April. With the mood in their camp at a real high and now sat in pole position to secure themselves another Champions League spot for next season, Head Coach Julen Lopetegui has seen his squad win each of their last three La Liga matchups on the spin. Unbeaten in each of their last seven contests across all formats, it should also be noted that Sevilla have picked up 16 points from their last six top-flight fixtures. Smelling what should be a golden chance on their travels in midweek, a struggling Levante should face another stern test on home soil. Last seen getting hit with a 5-1 drumming at the hands against Villarreal last weekend, The Frogs have lost three of their last four La Liga contests. Gaining a reputation for their issues at The Ciutat de València, Levante have failed to beat Sevilla across any format since 2018. Landing a 1-0 win when the two sides faced off earlier in the season, we’re backing a similar away victory in midweek.

Tip: Sevilla win @ 8/13

19:30 Werder Bremen vs Mainz

While a woeful start to the 2020/21 campaign might have had many tipping Mainz as the leading relegation scrapper this year, Wednesday’s guests have certainly bounced back in some style. Skyrocketing their way out of the bottom-three and breathing new life into their Bundesliga survival charge, The Reds will find the mood in their camp at a season-high. Managing to land what could turn out to be a crucial victory on their travels over the weekend, Head Coach Christian Heidel saw his side come from behind and snatch a last-gasp 3-2 win away at Koln last time out. Unbeaten in each of their last five top-flight contests and smelling what could be a golden chance in midweek, they also shocked many after clinching a 2-1 victory away at Hoffenheim prior to the international break. More impressive, along with mustering 10 points from their last four Bundesliga fixtures, it should also be noted that Mainz have remarkably lost just one of their previous nine top-flight matchups, a run that stems all the way back to the end of January. On the flip side, hit with yet another 4-1 drumming over the weekend at the hands of Borussia Dortmund, Werder Bremen find themselves in the midst of a Bundesliga nightmare. Despite extending on their DFP Pokal adventure earlier in the month, Wednesday’s hosts have lost each of their last five Bundesliga matchups on the spin.

Tip: Mainz win @ 11/8

20:00 Alaves vs Villarreal

Starting with Wednesday’s guests, managing to lay down what was a clinical marker over the weekend, Villarreal landed a thumping 5-1 win away at Levante and they find themselves sat in pole position to secure another European finish this year. Securing a Europa League showdown against Arsenal for later in the month, The Yellows came past Dinamo Zagreb thanks to a 3-1 aggregate win and they have largely impressed on either side of the international break. With it appearing that their 2-1 defeat against Osasuna was just a minor blip, Villarreal have won eight of their last nine matchups across all formats. Looking to extend on their purple patch in midweek, it is well worth keeping an eye out for red-hot leading marksman, Gerard Moreno. Once again getting on the scoresheet against Levante over the weekend, the 29-year-old has continued on a real free-scoring run. Including finding the net against Kosovo while away with Spain on international duties, the former Espanyol striker has bagged a remarkable 28 goals for club and country this season. Even more impressive, it should be noted that Moreno has 10 strikes in his last eight outings. On the flip side, while Alaves might have brought an end to their woeful run last weekend, they are firmly at the heart of a relegation scrap. With just a single win in any of their last nine La Liga matchups, Wednesday’s hosts face a stern test in midweek.

Tip: Gerard Moreno to score anytime @ 11/8
