25th January: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 7/1

With a hectic Saturday afternoon from across Europe’s footballing world, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your weekend acca:

Saturday 25th January

BST 14:30 Eintracht Frankfurt vs RB Leipzig

Returning from the festive break and putting in another dominant display in their 3-1 win over Union Berlin last weekend, RB Leipzig have continued to take the Bundesliga by storm this season. Opening Saturday’s contest with a four-point buffer at the top of the table, Julian Nagelsmann’s men also have a Champions League knockout tie against Tottenham on the horizon. Bagging a trio of strikes in their last three matchups on the bounce, Die Roten Bullen also find themselves in the midst of a 13-match unbeaten run across all formats, a run that stems back to the 26th of October. One man who has continued to lead Leipzig’s title charge this season has been the red-hot, Timo Werner. Bagging a brace against Union Berlin last weekend, the German sensation has now recorded nine goals in just his last seven appearances and has found the net in each of his last three straight matches on the road. As for Saturday’s hosts, while Frankfurt may have managed to make a return to winning ways away at Hoffenheim last weekend, it does not cover what has been a worrying rut for last year’s surprise package. Losing six of their last eight Bundesliga matchups and opening the weekend sat in the bottom half, Adi Hutter’s men have also their last three straight matches at the Commerzbank-Arena.

Tip: RB Leipzig to win and Timo Werner to score anytime @ 13/10

15:00 Burton Albion vs Accrington Stanley

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, putting in another rugged display and picking up a 1-0 win over a resurging MK Dons last time out, Burton have continued on quite the resurge. Opening the weekend fixtures knowing that three points could see them break into the play-off positions, Nigel Clough’s men have won their last three straight League One matches on the bounce. With the mood in their camp arguably at a season-high, a huge part of Burton’s recent revival has come thanks to some very eye-catching performances at the Pirelli Stadium. Including picking up a 1-0 win over fellow top-six hopefuls Fleetwood earlier in the month, Albion have won each of their last four third-tier matches in Staffordshire and are yet to concede a single goal on home soil since opening the New Year. As for Saturday’s guests, putting in a worrying performance and hit with a 2-1 defeat away at lower league Salford in the FA Trophy in midweek, Accrington have continued on a sluggish patch. Freefalling down the League One standings and losing their last three straight matches across all competitions, it should also be noted that John Coleman’s men have recorded just a single third-tier victory on the road since the end of September. Given the recent gulf in class between the two sides, we’re backing a home victory this weekend.

Tip: Burton Albion win @ 1/1

17:00 Fiorentina vs Genoa

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, putting in another shock performance and landing a very eye-catching 2-0 win away at Napoli last time out, few in Serie A would have expected Fiorentina’s revival under new boss Giuseppe Iachini. Also booking their spot in the semi-final of this year’s Coppa Italia thanks to a 2-1 victory over Champions League outfit Atalanta last week, La Viola have won their last three straight matches across all competitions and have tasted defeat just once since the start of December. Now with their sights firmly set on breaking into the top half of the standings, there is no doubt that fans around the Stadio Artemio Franchi will be most impressed by their side’s performances on home soil. Including their victory over Atalanta in Firenze, the former Empoli coach has seen his men land back-to-back home victories. Given Genoa’s continued struggles at the foot of the Serie A standings, there is no doubt that Fironetina should be relishing I Rossoblu arrival this weekend. Hit with a 3-1 hammering at home against Roma, Head Coach Davide Nicola finds his side sat two points adrift of safety after having lost their last three matches on the bounce. Even more worrying for Genoa, Saturday’s guests have lost four of their last five Serie A matchups and have shipped six goals in back-to-back matches on the road.

Tip: Fiorentina to score over 1.5 goals @ 4/5
