27th March: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 7/1

While we might have a host of international fixtures this weekend, we also have plenty of action from England’s lower leagues. So, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Saturday 27th March

BST 15:00 Bristol Rovers vs Sunderland

Starting with Saturday’s guests, while Sunderland would have been disappointed to have only collected a point against Lincoln last weekend, the mood in their camp should be at a real high. Enjoying what has been arguably their brightest spell in recent memory, the former Premier League outfit have a Championship return at the top of their agenda. Tipped as one of the leading contenders in the promotion chase, The Black Cats have really found their feet under new boss Lee Johnson. Lifting the EFL Trophy at an empty Wembley earlier in the month thanks to a 1-0 win against Tranmere in the capital, the former Bristol City boss finds his squad enjoying an 11-match unbeaten run across all formats. With leading marksman Charlie Wyke enjoying a real free-scoring run, Sunderland now find themselves sat just two points adrift of breaking into the automatic spots. Smelling a golden chance on their travels this weekend, a struggling Bristol Rovers could face a stern test on Saturday afternoon. Last seen in midweek getting hit with a 1-0 loss against fellow strugglers Swindon, new boss Joey Barton has quite the job on his hands. Still sat in the relegation zone, The Pirates have lost each of their last three League One matchups on the spin and they have just a single point to their name since March 9th. Given the huge gulf in class between the two sides, we’re backing a Sunderland win this weekend.

Tip: Sunderland win @ 7/10

15:00 MK Dons vs Doncaster Rovers

While MK Dons might have found themselves enduring a sluggish month run when heading into March, The Whites have managed to bounce back in an eye-catching fashion. Although Russell Martin’s men might have only just managed to hang onto their League One status last year, Saturday’s hosts are now sat within striking distance of breaking into the top-half of the table. Showing some real improvements in the final third, The Dons should also be boosted by a deserved victory on their travels last weekend. Ending Burton’s impressive unbeaten run by picking up a 2-1 victory on the road, the former Norwich defender has seen his side win each of their last three League One contests on the spin. Bagging at least a pair of strikes in each of those three wins, Martin’s side have also largely impressed on home soil. Including back-to-back wins against Accrington Stanley and Plymouth, The Whites have lost just a single home fixture since the end of January. On the flip side, while MK Dons might be enjoying a recent boost, Doncaster are a side desperately seeking some stability. Now in a battle to maintain their spot in the play-off positions, The Rovers have failed to win any of their last four third-tier matchups, including a 2-2 draw against Gillingham last time out. In a contest that could see chances at both ends, we’re backing both teams to find the net on Saturday afternoon.

Tip: Both teams to score @ 3/4

15:00 Carlisle United vs Cambridge United

Starting with the Saturday’s guests, while Cambridge might have been hit with that 2-1 defeat against fellow high-flyers Bolton earlier in the month, The U’s have really bounced back. Making a string of improvements from last season and still sat in pole position to secure an automatic promotion spot this year, Mark Bonner’s side open the weekend fixtures sat second in the League Two table and just a single point adrift of leaders Cheltenham. Collecting nine points from their last four fourth-tier contests, there is no doubt that Cambridge laid down a marker against another top-three chaser last weekend. In what could turn out to be three cruical points, they secured a 1-0 win against Forest Green Rovers on home soil and the mood in their camp should be at a high. More impressive, it should also be noted that along with mustering three wins from their last four League Two contests away from The Abbey Stadium, they picked up a thumping victory when they welcomed Carlisle to Cambridgeshire back in September. Putting on a clinical display and breezing to a 3-0 romp against Saturday’s hosts in the reverse fixture, this weekend’s hosts could be in for another tough test. Failing to bounce back from that 3-1 loss away at Stevenage last weekend and suffering a late defeat against Leyton Orient in midweek, The Blues have continued to slip down the League Two table. With just a single win to their name in any of their previous 12 matchups, Cambridge certainly appear at eye-catching odds.

Tip: Cambridge United win @ 2/1
