27th October: Tuesday’s Football Accumulator – 10/1

While the Champions League might take center stage in midweek, Tuesday offers us a stacked night of football from across England’s lower leagues. On that note, for those of you looking to open the week with an acca, we have searched far and wide to find you a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Tuesday 27th October

BST 19:00 Peterborough United vs Burton Albion

Starting with Tuesday’s hosts, putting in what was another hugely impressive display over the weekend, Peterborough have embarked on a stunning run of form and the mood in their camp should be at a red-hot high. Picking up a 2-1 win away at fellow promotion cashers Hull on Saturday, a result that shocked many, Darren Ferguson’s men now sit just a single point adrift of leapfrogging Lincoln to top spot. Collecting 18 points from their opening eight League One appearances, the Blues now find themselves in the midst of a six-match winning run across all formats and they have a growing reputation for their recent displays in the final third. Now bagging at least a pair of strikes in all bar one of their previous six victories, it is well worth keeping an eye out for Jonson Clarke-Harris in midweek. While the Posh might have seen Ivan Toney make the move to Brentford over the summer, the 26-year-old one again found the net against the Tigers last time out and has now bagged back-to-back League One strikes. More impressive, also notching four goals in his last five outings, Peterborough and Clarke-Johnson will be confident of laying down another marker on Tuesday. On the flip side, while Burton might have managed to snatch a 1-1 draw off of AFC Wimbledon over the weekend, the Millers already find themselves sat rock-bottom of the table. Now in the midst of a seven-match winless run across all formats and losing five of those appearances, we’re backing a routine night’s work for the Posh in midweek.

Tip: Peterborough win & Jonson Clarke-Harris to score anytime @ 11/8

19:45 Middlesbrough vs Coventry

While Middlesbrough might have just about managed to extend on their Championship status last season after returning from the enforced break over the summer, the Reds appear to have turned a real corner. Now under the guidance of veteran boss Neil Warnock, the former Premier League outfit suddenly find some in their camp dreaming of mounting a stunning play-off charge this time around. While the one-time Sheffield United Head Coach might have been disappointed to have seen Cardiff grab a late point over the weekend, they are now in the midst of an impressive six-match unbeaten run in the second-tier and have picked up some eye-catching scalps. Including ending Bristol City’s unbeaten start to the New Year with a 1-0 win at Ashton Gate, Middlesbrough have also managed to take points off of both Reading and Bournemouth. Conceding just a single strike in their last three matchups on the bounce, there is no doubt that Warnock and his squad will be confident of cashing in on their purple patch in midweek. On the flip side, while the mood in Middlesbrough’s camp should be at a real high, the same cannot be said for a struggling Coventry. Putting in what was a season-worst display over the weekend, the Championship returners were blown away thanks to a 4-0 drumming at the hands of Blackburn and now find themselves in the midst of a five-match winless run and have collected just a single point over their last four second-tier appearances. Remarkably failing to win any of their last 10 straight trips to the Riverside, we’re backing a similar home victory on Tuesday night.

Tip: Middlesbrough win @ 10/11

19:45 Aldershot Town vs Torquay United

Starting with Tuesday’s guests, managing to extend on their FA Cup victory over the weekend as they landed a routine 2-0 victory against Sholing on the road, Torquay find themselves in the midst of a real purple patch. With only their goal difference keeping them behind Stockport and top spot in the National League, the Yellows certainly have their sights set on reclaiming their Football League status this time around. Last seen on fifth-tier duties picking up another 2-0 win at home against Dover earlier in the month, Head Coach Gary Johnson finds his side in the midst of a four-match winning run across all formats and have bagged over 1.5 goals in each of those four victories. In fact, now winning five of their last six competitive matchups since opening the 2020/2021 campaign, the former Yeovil boss has also seen his squad secure back-to-back victories away from Plainmoor Ground. Looking to make it five in five on Tuesday, there is no doubt that Torquay will be boosted by what was a rampant previous meeting against Aldershot. When they welcomed the National League strugglers to Devon last year, the Yellows picked up what was a 5-1 romp and will be confident of laying down a similar marker in midweek. On the flip side, while Torquay might have extended on their FA Cup adventure over the weekend, Tuesday’s hosts were hit with a 2-1 defeat at home against Woking and should be in for another overwhelming test on home soil. Winning just one of their opening five competitive this season, we’re backing an away victory in midweek.

Tip: Torquay United win @ 31/20
