2nd March: Tuesday’s Football Accumulator – 6/1

With the relentless schedule once again opening up on Tuesday night, we have another stacked set of fixtures from across Europe. So, for those of you looking to stick on a midweek flutter, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Tuesday 2nd March

BST 19:00 Northampton Town vs Plymouth Argyle

Starting with Tuesday’s guests, managing to make a dramatic return to winning ways over the weekend, the mood in Plymouth’s camp should be at a real high. Eventually snatching a last-gasp winner against two-two chasers Lincoln on Saturday, the Greens have their own shock play-off charge at the top of their agenda. Making an immediate return to winning ways after that defeat against Peterborough last month, Ryan Lowe’s side have gained a string of plaudits so far this season. While they might have managed to secure a maiden campaign in the third-tier last summer, Plymouth open the midweek fixtures sat just two points adrift of breaking into the top-seven. Losing just one of their previous 11 League One contests since opening 2021, Lowe’s men have also continued to impress with their performances on the road. Last seen away from Home Park picking up a 1-0 victory against fellow play-off hopefuls Accrington Stanley, the Greens are unbeaten in their last five third-tier matchups on their travels. Taking points off of both Sunderland and Portsmouth on that run, Plymouth should be confident of extending on that tally on Tuesday night. On the flip side, throwing away the lead and getting hit with a 2-1 defeat against Swindon over the weekend, Northampton find themselves in the midst of a League One nightmare. Freefalling to the foot of the table, the Midlands outfit have failed to win any of their 11 third-tier matchups since opening the New Year.

Tip: Plymouth Argyle win @ 6/4

19:45 Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Borussia Dortmund

While Borussia Dortmund might have shown a string of issues so far this season, Tuesday’s guests do find themselves enjoying a recent boost. With it announced that Borussia Mönchengladbach boss Marcos Rose will be taking over at Signal-Iduna-Park come the end of the season, the Bats put in another thumping display over the weekend. With the red-hot Jadon Sancho once again getting himself on the scoresheet, they landed a deserved 3-0 romp against Arminia Bielefeld on home soil. Now winning each of their last three matchups across all formats, including that thumping 4-0 win against local rivals Schalke, Dortmund also shocked many with their eye-catching Champions League display a fortnight ago. Traveling to Spanish outfit and defending Europa League champions Sevilla, BVB landed a 3-2 win on foreign soil and the mood in their camp should be on the rise. Refinding their clinical edge in the final third and bagging themselves 10 strikes on their three-match winning run, a struggling Gladbach should face another stern test in midweek. Eventually hit with a last-gasp 3-2 defeat against RB Leipzig over the weekend, Tuesday’s hosts have freefallen their way down the Bundesliga table. Turning their attention back to DKP Pokal duties this week, Rose’s side have lost each of their last three matchups across all formats. More worrying, Gladbach have failed to win any of their last five straight appearances, losing four of those contests.

Tip: Borussia Dortmund to qualify @ 4/7

19:45 Barnet vs Yeovil Town

Starting with the hosts, while Yeovil might have opened the New Year with back-to-back defeats, the Glovers have bounced back in an eye-catching fashion. Arguably enjoying their brightest run of the season so far, Darren Sarll’s side now find only their goal difference stopping them from breaking into the top-half of the National League table. Although many in England’s fifth-tier feel that it could be too late for the Somerset outfit to mount a play-off charge, the Greens were last seen putting in a professional display over the weekend. Leaving it late and grabbing a deserved last-gasp winner against Dagenham & Redbridge, it appears that their close-fought defeat against Hartlepool last month was just a minor blip. Going on and securing back-to-back National League wins, it should also be noted that Yeovil have collected a very impressive 12 points from their last five fifth-tier appearances. With their recent purple patch highlighted by that action-packed 3-2 win away at play-off contenders Boreham Wood on February 16th, Yeovil should be smelling a golden chance on the road in midweek. On the flip side, while Sarll’s men are enjoying a recent purple patch, Barnet find themselves enduring a National League nightmare. With their recent issues highlighted by that dreadful 5-1 drumming at the hands of King’s Lynn Town, Tuesday’s hosts have lost each of their last three fifth-tier contests on the spin. More worrying, the Londoners have remarkably managed to win just one of their last 19 straight contests across all formats.

Tip: Yeovil Town win @ 4/5
