30th December: Wednesday’s Football Accumulator – 7/1

With the midweek schedule only rolling onto Wednesday, the return of La Liga from the festive break and Britain’s top-tiers will take center stage. On that note, for those of you looking to stick on a Wednesday acca, we have found you a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Wednesday 30th December

BST 18:00 Hibernian vs Ross County

For our opening Tip of the Day, we turn our attention to the Scottish Premiership and a Hibernian side who should be extremely confident of making an immediate return to winning ways on Wednesday evening. While Jack Ross’ men might have seen their eye-catching unbeaten run come to an abrupt end on Boxing Day afternoon, the one-time Sunderland boss has gained a string of plaudits in Edinburgh so far this season. With their sights set on mounting a real European charge, Hibs eventually fell to a close-fought 1-0 loss away at runaway leaders Rangers over the weekend. However, with a real chance to leapfrog Aberdeen on Wednesday and losing just one of their last 10 matchups across all formats, Ross and his squad will be glad to make a return to home soil in midweek. With a growing reputation for their continued success at Easter Road, Hibernian are unbeaten in each of their last nine straight home fixtures, a run that has seen them snatch points off both Rangers and Celtic. Smelling a real chance in Edinburgh, Hibs should be relishing Ross County’s arrival on Wednesday. Last seen on Boxing Day when putting in another sluggish display, the Dingwall outfit were hit with yet another 2-0 defeat, this time at home against St. Mirren. Already sat rock-bottom of the Premiership table, the Staggies have lost each of their last six straight appearances on the spin. Failing to bag themselves a single strike on that losing run, it should also be noted that Ross County have lost each of their last five straight fixtures by a scoreline of 2-0.

Tip: Hibernian win and under four goals @ 6/5

18:15 Celta Vigo vs Huesca

Starting with Wednesday’s hosts, while Celta Vigo would have been disappointed to have eventually settled for a 1-1 draw away at Getafe prior to Spain’s festive break, the Sky Blues should be relishing a return to action in midweek. Although Célticos might have opened the 2020/2021 campaign in woeful fashion and many in their camp fearing they would be at the heart of another relegation scrap, Celta have certainly bounced back in hugely impressive fashion. Enjoying by far their most fruitful spell in recent memory since drawing a close to November, Head Coach Eduardo Coudet should find the mood in his camp at a real high. Making their return sat as high as eighth and with a real chance to potentially break into the European spots, the midweek hosts have also gained a real reputation for their continued displays in the final third. Unbeaten in their last six matchups across all formats and winning five of those appearances, it is well worth keeping an eye out for a red-hot talisman, Iago Aspas. Once again finding the net against Getafe last time out, the former Liverpool misfit has recorded three La Liga strikes in his last four matchups and will once again spearhead a high-flying Celta on Wednesday evening. On the flip side, while Huesca might have also managed to salvage a point against Levante last time out, Azulgranas still find themselves needing some stability. Opening the midweek fixtures sat rock-bottom of the table and seen as one of the leading relegation scrappers this season, Huesca have managed to win just one of their 15 La Liga contests so far this year.

Tip: Celta Vigo win @ 3/4

20:00 Swansea City vs Reading

While Swansea might have been hit with that shock 2-0 defeat against relegation scrappers Derby earlier in the month, Steve Cooper’s men have managed to bounce back in eye-catching fashion. Still hanging onto their spot in the automatic positions and seen as a real promotion contender again this season, the Whites were last seen on Boxing Day when putting in another professional display. Making the trip to West London over the weekend, Wednesday’s hosts landed a deserved 2-0 victory against QPR and they have now mustered back-to-back Championship victories since that defeat at Pride Park. Losing just one of their last six second-tier contests and winning four of those appearances, it should also be noted that Swansea have recorded a clean sheet in five of their last six matchups. Looking to extend their stay in the top-two this week, Cooper will also be impressed with his side’s continued performances on home soil. Last seen at the Liberty when picking up a 2-0 win against a high-flying Barnsley, the Swans are unbeaten in each of their last seven straight contests in South Wales, a run that stems back to October 17th. On the flip side, while Reading might have managed to hang onto a 2-1 win against Luton on Boxing Day, the Royals have struggled to match a similar level that saw them burst onto the scene when opening the 2020/2021 campaign. Now in a real battle to extend their stay in the play-off spots, the midweek guests have won just one of their last six fixtures away from the Madejski. Hit with a 4-1 drumming when they faced off against Swansea last season, we’re backing a home victory on Wednesday night.

Tip: Swansea win @ 11/10
