7th March: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 9/1

With a hectic Saturday afternoon from across England’s footballing tiers, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your weekend acca:

Saturday 7th March

BST 15:00 Wolves vs Brighton

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, coming from behind in dramatic fashion and snatching what could be a crucial 3-2 win away at Tottenham last weekend, Wolves suddenly find themselves firmly in the Champions League hunt. Opening Saturday’s contest sat just three points adrift of the top-four and also booking their spot in the quarter-finals of this year’s Europa League thanks to a 7-2 aggregate win over Spanish outfit Espanyol, the mood around Molineux is certainly on the rise. Now winning three of their last four matches across all competitions and with a growing reputation for their displays in the final third, Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo could be calling on the red-hot Diogo Jota to lead their charge on Saturday afternoon. Once again finding the net against Spurs last time out, the 23-year-old has scored in each of his last three appearances on the spin, including a European hat-trick last week. Tasting Premier League defeat just once on home soil since the middle of December, there is no doubt that Wolves will be confident of extending their purple patch this weekend. Putting in another sluggish display against M23 rivals Crystal Palace seven days ago, Brighton find themselves in the midst of a real crisis. Watching the Eagles land a 1-0 win at the Amex last weekend, Graham Potter’s men hold just a one-point buffer over the drop zone and are yet to record a single victory since opening the New Year. Also landing just a sole Premier League victory on the road since the opening weekend, Brighton could be in for another long afternoon at Molineux.

Tip: Wolves win and over 1.5 goals @ 21/20

15:00 Swindon Town vs Forest Green Rovers

Watching leading marksman Eoin Doyle make a return to goalscoring ways in midweek, Swindon picked up a routine 2-0 win against Scunthorpe on Tuesday night and the mood in their camp remains at a season-high. With their attacking talisman bag a brace earlier in the week, the Reds have won their last three matches on the bounce and hold a one-point buffer at the top of the table. Now in pole position to secure a League One return this season, the Wiltshire outfit are in the midst of a five-match unbeaten run. Holding the second-best attacking record in England’s fourth-tier, Richie Wellens’ men have a growing reputation for their performances on home soil. Including that victory over Scunthorpe in midweek, Swindon are enjoying what has been a stellar nine-match unbeaten run at the County Ground, winning eight of those appearances. Collecting victories over the likes of fellow promotion hopefuls Exeter and Crewe on that stunning run in front of their own supporters, the Reds should also be excited by Forest Green’s last trip to Wiltshire. When Saturday’s guests visited the County Ground last season, Wellens’ men landed a 2-0 victory and they should be confident of making another statement this weekend. Despite opening the New Year firmly in the play-off race, the Green Army are in the midst of a real struggle. Freefalling down the League Two table and hit with a 1-0 defeat away at Scunthorpe last weekend, Mark Cooper’s men have lost three of their last four and have failed to win any of their last eight appearances on the bounce.

Tip: Swindon Town win and over 1.5 goals @ 23/20

15:00 Halifax Town vs Woking

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, making a return to winning ways on Tuesday night and snatching a late 1-0 win off of Sutton, Halifax have refound their form and sit in pole position to land a play-off finish this season. Shocking many in their debut National League campaign, the Blues have won five of their last six fifth-tier appearances and hold a four-point buffer from losing their top-seven status. Tasting National League defeat just once since Boxing Day, Head Coach Pete Wild will be most impressed by his side’s continued performances on home soil. Including their midweek victory over Sutton, Halifax have won their last four consecutive matches in West Yorkshire, bagging a very eye-catching 12 goals on that winning run at the Shay Stadium. Finding the net in the 88th minute on Tuesday night, one man to keep an eye out for this weekend will be the red-hot Devante Rodney. Continuing to shine following his January loan move from Hartlepool, the 21-year-old has bagged five goals in his six appearances for Wild’s side. Enjoying what has been another purple patch, there is no doubt that Halifax should be looking to make it back-to-back victories on Saturday afternoon. While Woking may have managed to pick up a 2-0 win over Maidenhead last time out, the Surrey outfit have a growing reputation for their issues on the road. Landing just a sole victory over the past six weeks, the Cardinals have failed to win any of their last eight away matches across all competitions, losing seven of those contests. With that run highlighted by a 3-1 defeat away at lower league Kingstonian over the festive period, this weekend could be another tough test for Woking.

Tip: Halifax Town win @ 7/5
