8th February: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 7/1

With a hectic Saturday schedule from across Europe’s footballing tiers, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your weekend acca:

Saturday 8th February

BST 15:00 Brentford vs Middlesbrough

Bouncing back from their defeat against Nottingham Forest last month, Brentford managed to put five past Hull last weekend and still have their sights set on securing a maiden Premier League campaign this year. With a growing reputation for their performances in the final third, the Bees have lost just one of their last 11 Championship matchups and find the mood in their camp on the rise. Led by attacking MVP Ollie Watkins who once again found the net against the Tigers last weekend and has recorded 19 strikes this season, Thomas Frank’s men have also continued to shine on home soil. Including picking up a thumping 7-0 win over Luton during the festive period, Brentford have won six of their last seven appearances at Griffin Park and should be relishing Middlesbrough trip to Middlesex this weekend. Playing out back-to-back 1-1 draws against Blackburn and Birmingham at the riverside, Saturday’s guests have failed to win any of their last six matches across all competitions and the Reds appear to be slipping back to their old ways. Hit with back-to-back defeats against Saturday’s hosts and also managing to record just a pair of away victories since opening the 2019/2020 campaign, we’re backing a comfortable home victory for Brentford this weekend.

Tip: Brentford win and over 1.5 goals @ 1/1

15:00 Tranmere Rovers vs Portsmouth

Starting with Saturday’s guests, putting in what was another dominant display and picking up a 2-0 win over Sunderland last weekend, Portsmouth have continued on what has been a stellar purple patch. Reclaiming their spot in the play-offs and the mood around Fratton Park at a season-high, the South Coast outfit find themselves in the midst of an eight-match winning run across all competitions, a run that stems back to a 1-1 draw with Gillingham on New Year’s Day. Now sat within touching distance of the automatic spots, Kenny Jackett’s men also have a growing reputation for their form in the final third. Bagging at least a pair of goals in seven of their last eight victories, the one-time Millwall boss will be most impressed by his side’s continued showings on the road. Portsmouth have won their last four consecutive matches away from Fratton Park and are unbeaten on their travels since opening 2020. Picking up a 2-0 win when they faced off against Tranmere earlier in the season, Pompey should be relishing their trip to Prenton Park on Saturday. Hit with a 3-0 hammering at home against Doncaster earlier in the week, the Merseyside outfit are in the midst of a real crisis. Including being hit with a 6-0 defeat against Manchester United earlier in the month, Mick Mellon’s men have lost their last four matches on the bounce.

Tip: Portsmouth win and under five goals @ 20/21

16:30 Marseille vs Toulouse

Picking up a 2-0 win over Saint-Etienne on Tuesday night and extending their unbeaten run to a staggering 15 matches, Marseille sit in pole position to secure a Champions League return this year. Also booking their spot in the quarter-final of this year’s Coupe de France thanks to a 3-1 win over Strasbourg last week, André Villas-Boas’ men are unbeaten on home soil since the 10th of August. One man who has continued to lead Marseille’s stunning run of form has been their red-hot talisman, Dimitri Payet. Once again finding the net against Saint-Etienne last time out, the French play-maker has bagged five goals in his last seven matches across all competitions. Also finding the net in back-to-back matchups at the Orange Vélodrome, the former West Ham star should be confident of extending his recent purple patch this weekend. Hit with a 1-0 loss against Strasbourg in midweek, Toulouse have continued on what has been a disastrous campaign. Sat rock-bottom at the foot of the Ligue 1 table and 14 points adrift of safety, Saturday’s guests are on a remarkable run that has seen them fail to win any of their last 14 matchups across all formats. Losing 13 of those appearances and the mood in their camp at a season-low, Payet and Marseille should be looking to make another statement this week.

Tip: Dimitri Payet to score anytime @ 13/10
