Aberdeen 11/8 to beat Motherwell and under 3.5 goals for Sunday’s Scottish Premiership showdown

Competition: Scottish Premiership

Market: Aberdeen win and under 3.5 goals

Odds: 11/8 @ 888sport

Two sides who managed to extend on their European journeys earlier in the week, a high-flying Aberdeen will host Motherwell at Pittodrie on Sunday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, putting in what was a professional performance on foreign soil in midweek, Aberdeen managed to come past Norweigan outfit Viking in their Europa League qualifier. While the Reds might have opened the 2020/2021 campaign with some off-field issues, there is no doubt that Derek McInnes will be hugely excited by his side’s stunning turnaround. With their sights firmly set on securing another top-three finish this year, Aberdeen now find themselves in the midst of a six-match winning run across all formats and they have gained plenty of plaudits for their recent displays at the back. Recording another clean sheet in Norway on Thursday night, Sunday’s hosts have recorded four clean sheets on the spin and have shipped just a single strike in almost 600 minutes of action.

As for the visitors, while Motherwell might have managed to avoid a real collapse and scrapped past Northern Ireland’s Coleraine in their own Europa League qualifier on Thursday, it does not cover what has been a worrying start for Stephen Robinson’s men. Opening Sunday’s fixtures still sat at the bottom of the Premiership thanks to their goal difference, a close-fought 1-0 win against St. Johnstone last weekend was their only victory in any of their opening seven top-flight appearances. Continuing to show some glaring issues in the final third, they also have a reputation for their issues away from Fir Park. Including a 3-0 drumming away at defending champions Celtic in their last matchup on the road, Motherwell have now failed to win any of their last seven away fixtures on the bounce continuing on from last season.
