According to Sport, Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars has come to terms with the inevitable – that Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt are going to be leaving the Dutch giants. Overmars is said to be planning how they can spend the money that they’ll receive, with many suggesting that the deals are in fact going to go through in January.

Barcelona have been the favourites to sign the duo over the course of the last few months and it appears as if that’s still the case, even with late interest from the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

Both men are considered to be amongst the finest youngsters in European football today, and it’s safe to say that they’ll be huge losses for the Amsterdam-based club.

Ajax are still very much in the race to win the Dutch title this season, although on top of that, they would’ve been hoping to progress even further in the UEFA Champions League.
