Ajax step up interest in Junior Tavares

Having already hired former the talented Sao Paolo forward David Neres during the January transfer window, Dutch dominators Ajax are keen to add more Brazilian power to their ranks with another Sao Paolo footballer identified as the top transfer target.

Ajax representatives have already made plans for a trip to Brazil in order to open negotiations over the summer deal for the 20-year-old Brazilian left-back Junior Tavares.

Globo Esporte can confirm that Ajax are willing to invest as much as $30 million for the player who made quite an impression on the Dutch side with his performances for Sao Paolo’s youth section last season.

Junior Tavares is yet to make a league debut for the Brazilian powerhouse and could very much be denied that chance if Ajax realize the transfer this summer.

Europa League finalists are stepping up efforts to complete all the transfer dealing early and have already recruited former player Klaas-Jan Huntelaar who rejoins the Eredivisie side on a one-year deal.
