Atletico Madrid forward honoured his Uruguay friends by wearing this country’s flag during the post-match press conference following the win in the World Cup final.
Griezmann has already spoken of his affinity with Uruguay whereas it was Naithan Nandez who called him ‘half-Uruguayan’. Diego Godin is the godfather to Griezmann’s daughter and he also enjoys close ties with plenty of Uruguay players.
So, this move with the flag was for them.
