According to reports in England, Arsenal are considering the possibility of making a move for Mehdi Benatia. It’s been revealed in recent days that Juventus could well sell Benatia in order to facilitate a move for de Ligt from Ajax, although there are still a lot of details that would have to be ironed out in order for everyone to get what they want.
The Gunners have been able to improve their defensive standing in recent months which is arguably one of Unai Emery’s biggest and best achievements at the club to date, but there’s still a long, long way to go. The signing of Benatia would serve as a real statement of intent to the rest of the league, especially when it comes to their rivals.
Benatia is believed to be unhappy at Juventus one way or another regardless of the rumours surrounding him, and Arsenal could take full advantage of that.
