Arsenal go after Barella

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal are one of the many clubs interested in signing Nicolo Barella. The 21 year old has thrust himself into the limelight over the last few years as part of Cagliari’s midfield, and now, he’s drawing the attention of clubs from all over Europe. A handful of Serie A teams are interested as well as Liverpool, but the Gunners are said to be heavily invested in the idea of bringing him to the Emirates.

Barella would serve as something of a replacement for the outgoing Aaron Ramsey, who seems to be destined to make his exit from the club sooner rather than later. The Welshman’s contract will come to an end next summer, and given Barella’s age, it makes sense to consider the possibility that Arsenal are viewing the Italian as a long term replacement as Unai Emery continues to try and improve this Gunners squad.
