Arsenal turn attention to Gabriel Paulista

Premier League giants Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista, according to L’Equipe.

The Gunners are in the market for a new central defender and they have been heavily linked with Saint Etienne stopper Loic Perrin over the last few weeks.

However, L’Equipe has suggested they are no longer looking at les Verts star, but have rather switched their focus to Villarreal centre-back Gabriel Paulista.

The problem is that the 24-year-old Brazilian has yet to appear for the national team, meaning that it could prove difficult to obtain a work permit for him.

Gabriel Paulista arrived at Villarreal last summer from Brazilian side Vitoria and he didn’t need a lot of time to nail down a regular starting berth at El Madrigal.

The talented defender has been almost ever present for the Yellow Submarine this season, starting 16 league fixtures while making another substitute appearance for the club.
