Odds: 2/3 @ BetUS
Two camps who will sign off their respective regular-season campaigns on Sunday morning, Melbourne City will welcome Adelaide to Victoria.
Starting with the hosts, while Melbourne might have shown some major cause for concern on either side of opening 2026, the Sky Blues have certainly signed off the 2025/26 campaign in the midst of a sensational run of form. Last seen putting in a rampant second-half performance as they secured a thrilling 3-2 victory away at Brisbane, Aurelio Vidmar’s side are riding a real wave of momentum. Marking their return from March’s international break with a 3-0 romp at home against Western Sydney, the Australian giants have already wrapped up a play-off ticket with time to spare. In fact, including a 2-1 win against Central Coast earlier in the month, Sunday’s hosts have won all of their previous four consecutive A-League appearances by an aggregate score 10-3. Gaining a real reputation for their free-scoring performances in the final third, Melbourne have also registered 16 points from their last six domestic outings. It should also be highlighted, Vidmar’s camps have notched seven goals in their last three straight showdowns in front of their own supporters.
As for the visitors, last seen putting in a dominant display as they secured a deserved 3-1 victory at home against Macarthur, Adelaide have rightfully received plenty of praise from across Australia’s elite this season. Knowing that they can skyrocket their way into silver medal position this weekend, Airton Andrioli’s side have continued to shine on either side of March’s fortnight interval. Heading into the international break with a rollercoaster 4-2 win away at Western Sydney, Sunday’s guests are unbeaten in all of their previous nine consecutive A-League appearances – a run that stems back to a 3-2 loss against Newcastle on February 8th. It should also be highlighted, the Reds have suffered just a single domestic defeat since the start of January. Despite being pencilled in as a real underdog contender here, Adelaide will be excited by their reverse showdown against Melbourne. Storming to a thumping 4-1 victory when they welcomed the Sky Blues to town back on November 21st, Andrioli’s camp are more than capable of asking some serious questions this weekend.
