Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have an agreement in place to sign Andy Robertson as a free agent this summer, with the contract between the 32-year-old left-back and Liverpool coming to its end. The Scotland captain has already confirmed he’ll be leaving Anfield.
However, according to Daily Record, Atletico Madrid are set to reignite their interest in his services from last summer and enter the race for his signature.
Robertson’s agreement with Spurs is said to hinge on the North London club securing Premier League survival, which at this point seems doubtful. Spurs sit in 18th place in the table, just inside the relegation zone, with two points separating them from West Ham in 17th four rounds before the end of the season.
That alone is a challenge enough for Roberto De Zerbi’s side, and Atletico entering the race would certainly complicate matters further. Unlike Spurs, the Rojiblancos are on course to secure Champions League qualification, which would surely affect Robertson’s decision.
