Arsenal withdraw Partey interest

According to a recent report from Sport, Arsenal have ‘unofficially’ withdrawn their interest in Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

The belief is that the Gunners do not intend to pay the required €50 million that would get the deal done, whereas Atletico aren’t planning on budging on their estimation of him.

The 27-year-old would serve as a great presence in the middle of the park for Arsenal, especially considering he would be moving from a Champions League side to a Europa League side.

Alas, Mikel Arteta is well aware of the fact that the season is edging closer and closer, and he needs to act fast if he wants to bring in some more new faces.

Whether or not another club will try and come in for Partey remains to be be seen, but right now, the focus for Arsenal is going to be shifting elsewhere as the Community Shield beckons.
