Aston Villa want Gazzaniga?

According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Aston Villa are interested in trying to sign Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.

The Argentine’s contract isn’t set to expire for another two years, but with Tottenham signing Joe Hart as further competition for Hugo Lloris, it feels like just a matter of time before he walks out of the door.

Tom Heaton has confirmed that he will miss the start of the new Premier League season as his recovery from a knee injury continues, freeing up Villa to go elsewhere – especially now that it’s been confirmed that Pepe Reina will not be returning to the Midlands.

Gazzaniga is the kind of goalkeeper that will be determined to prove himself in the first team of any Premier League club, and with Villa needing someone who can guide them away from the relegation zone, you’d have to imagine that’s the kind of high pressure situation he’ll enjoy.
