Atletico Madrid win race for Joao Felix

According to a recent report from Marca, Atletico Madrid have now won the race to sign Joao Felix from Benfica. The expectation is that a formal announcement is going to be made later today or tomorrow, after weeks of the youngster being linked with some of the biggest clubs in world football. Felix has apparently visited the club, not only for a tour of the facilities, but also for a proposed medical. He has apparently already signed his contract, and all that is left (seemingly) is for Atletico to confirm the move.

The Spanish giants certainly aren’t messing around in this transfer window, as they continue to go in search of both domestic and European glory. It seems as if they’ve been fairly successful up to this point with Simeone at the helm, but now, he recognises that he needs to step it up a notch in order to compete with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
