Atletico offer Juanfran new deal

Atletico Madrid have reportedly offered Juanfran a new deal. That’s according to Sport, who add that the proposal on the defender’s table is actually one of a 12-month contract extension.

With Diego Godin likely to join Inter and Lucas Hernandez to move to Bayern Munich, manager Diego Simeone is very reluctant to allow another one of his defenders to leave Wanda Metropolitano as the 34-year-old approaches the end of his current contract.

Juanfran spent two years with Real Madrid, one year with Espanyol, four and a half years with Osasuna, and he arrived to Atletico in January 2011. He has so far made 344 competitive appearances for the club, scoring six times. Despite the presence of the likes of Šime Vrsaljko and Sanitago Arias who are both fighting to make the right-back position their own, Simeone still trusts Juanfran the most and wants him to stay on.

The player and his representatives are currently reviewing the club’s offer before giving their response.
