Axel Witsel set for Borussia Dortmund medical

Belgian reports have it that Tianjin Quanjian midfielder Axel Witsel is set to seal a European return this summer with Borussia Dortmund poised to wrap up a deal for the 29-year-old this week.

Het Laatste Nieuws were the first ones to break the story of Borussia Dortmund’s interest in Witsel who decided to get back to Europe after a year-and-a-half stint in China.

PSG were the ones casting admiring glances towards the former Zenit star but Borussia Dortmund made a swift move to persuade the Belgian to move to Germany instead.

It is now believed that Witsel will cut his holiday short to close a deal with Bundesliga heavyweights and seal his return to Europe.
