Baines set for Everton extension

According to a recent report from Sky Sports News, Leighton Baines is expected to sign a one year contract extension with Everton next week. He has already been offered the extension, with many now anticipating that he’s going to remain at Goodison Park after a great deal of speculation over his future. Baines, who was formerly a consistent member of England’s national team setup, lost his place in the Everton starting XI last season courtesy of Lucas Digne’s rise up through the ranks of the club. Now, though, the Toffees are said to be anxious about the possibility of letting him go, after his many years of dedicated service to the club. It’s unlikely that he’s going to be able to work his way back into the first team with Everton, but even with that being the case, he should be incredibly proud to be offered an extension by the club.
