With a golden opportunity to extend their buffer at the top of the table, Barcelona will welcome relegation scrappers Leganes to Catalonia on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, picking up a rampant 4-0 win away at Mallorca on their return from the enforced break, Barcelona find themselves sat in pole position to reclaim their La Liga crown. Watching attacking talisman Lionel Messi make his return with a Man of the Match display over the weekend, Quique Setién will be hoping for his side to carry on with their recent displays at the back. Along with entering the break with a 1-0 win against Champions League chasers Real Sociedad, the Spanish giants have recorded three clean sheets in their last four domestic outings. More impressive, Tuesday’s hosts have shipped just a pair of La Liga strikes in Catalonia in over 500 minutes of action and Barca should be confident of making another statement in midweek.

As for the visitors, returning from the enforced break over the weekend with what was a devastating 2-1 defeat against fellow scrappers Real Valladolid, Leganes make the trip to the Nou Camp still sat three points adrift of safety. Picking up just a single La Liga win in their last six attempts and showing some glaring issues either side of the break, Head Coach Javier Aguirre has seen his side gain a reputation for their toothless displays on the road. Including what was a 5-0 drumming when they faced off against Tuesday’s hosts in the Copa del Rey prior to the break, Los Pepineros have managed to score just a single away goal from open play over 450 minutes of action. Given the huge gulf in class between the two sides, it is hard to see anything other than a routine victory for the Spanish giants in midweek.
