Barcelona considering Azpilicueta swoop

Barcelona are weighing up a move for out-of-favour Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta, Talksport understands.

The Spain international made forty-nine appearances in all competitions for the Blues last season – his first in English football, but his only game time this season came as a stoppage-time substitute in the goalless draw at Old Trafford last month.

Branislav Ivanovic has played every minute of all seven of Chelsea’s games this season, and looks set to continue as Jose Mourinho’s right-back as long as he is fit.

The La Liga champions are likely to be in the market for a new defender if Arsenal and Liverpool target Martin Montoya decides to move on.

The 24 year old began his career in his home country, playing over a hundred times for Osasuna after breaking into their first team in April 2007.

He then won back to back French League Cups in his two full seasons with Marsielle before moving to Stamford Bridge last August.
