According to Mundo Deportivo, Spanish giants Barcelona are seriously considering a free transfer move for Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal. The 32-year-old has been with the North London club for five years now, after spending the first eight years over in Spain.
The move would be made in order to provide back up to Jordi Alba, and with the Champions League being just around the corner, their schedule is likely going to be fairly intense over the course of the next few months, and bringing in someone as experienced as Monreal could be beneficial to them.
They aren’t interested in spending too much money in order to bring a back-up in, but it’s something of a necessity after allowing Lucas Digne to join Everton. Either way, Alba will likely keep his place in the starting XI, but you always need to be able to plan for the worst case scenario in football.
