Barcelona pursue Gundogan

According to a recent report from Sport, Barcelona are interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

The plan is believed to be for Gundogan to come in and possibly replace Sergio Busquets, the ageing veteran who seems to be on his last legs as a pro at the elite level.

The German midfielder didn’t exactly shine at the World Cup with his national side and yet, Barca believe he could well be a good fit in their system.

Gundogan still has a lot left in the tank and he has the ability to go along with his confidence on and off the ball, but it depends on whether Pep Guardiola still views him as a valued, consistent member of the squad or not.

City have the kind of insane strength in depth that would be enough for any league title, but Gundogan has given them enough big moments over the years to make them think twice about his future.
