According to a report from Sport, Spanish giants Barcelona are interested in signing Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud. The 32 year old hasn’t quite been able to capture the same kind of form with the Blues that he had with Arsenal, and in many ways, people weren’t really expecting him to. Now, though, with Chelsea looking for a more consistent goalscorer, it seems like only a matter of time before he leaves Stamford Bridge.
Barca are said to be short on forwards in the wake of Munir El Haddadi’s departure, with Fernando Llorente also being linked to the La Liga champions in recent days.
Atletico Madrid are also in the running for Giroud, who helped France to lift the World Cup trophy back in the summer.
If a deal is done then it feels like it’ll go down sooner rather than later, with Barca wanting to tie something up ASAP and Chelsea looking ahead to the future instead of into their past.
