Nicolo Barella has agreed terms on a new contract with Inter Milan, while the future of Marcelo Brozovic remains uncertain, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Even though his current deal has two and a half years left to run, the Nerazzurri are obviously determined to settle the issue of Barella as soon as possible. The 24-year-old Italy international has been a reported target for Tottenham Hotspur, who have appointed former Inter boss Antonio Conte as the replacement for the sacked Nuno Espirito Santo earlier this week. However, Barella is set to reject their advances to stay with the Serie A champions, where he should be earning around €5 million per season under the terms of a five-year deal.
Barella rose through the youth ranks at Cagliari, and having completed a temporary spell with Como, he moved to Inter in the summer of 2019, also on an initial loan which was made permanent the following summer for a reported fee of €32.5m. In all competitions, he has a total of 102 appearances for the club, with eight goals and 27 assists to his name.
Brozovic, however, isn’t yet sure he wants to stay at Inter past next summer and could leave as a free agent.
